The year is U.C. 0079 and the One Year War is coming to an end. Leading the "Hunter of Black Clothes" squadron for the Principality of Zeon is Major Wolfgang, whose black Zaku has served as inspiration for the squad's name. Their atmospheric patrols have caused concern for the Federation, dubbing them as "GM Hunters." It is during a fight against a GM squadron just outside the atmosphere that Wolfgang's fate is sealed.

The Calamity War engulfed the entirety of Earth and required the deployment of Gundams to terminate the chaos. However, as time passed, some of these machines were hidden away while others were left to decay.
