In ancient Japan's Warring States era, a Samurai general named Daigo Kagemitsu makes a pact with 48 demons. Once the child is born, Daigo commands him to be disposed of in the river, thinking that he'll die. But a kind-hearted sage rescues the baby and gives him prosthetics. Along the way, he saves an adolescent pickpocket named Dororo from a group of thugs, and both embark on a journey to locate and defeat the demons.
