The manga centers around Ginjirou Manda, a loan shark business man who is affiliated with many Yakuza gangs in Osaka. He charges an interest rate called toichi—10% more interest every 10 days, or 365% every year. Thanks to his unrelenting money-collecting tactics, he is feared as "Minami no Oni" or the "Demon" of Osaka's Minami business district. Even when his borrowers tries to scam him, he always finds a way to make them pay his money back.

From Kirei Cake: Meet Sakai Hiroaki, a high school teenage mastermind with a genius-level intelligence and a lack of interest in anything that is easy to him. During one unlucky day, in an attempt to stop a student from committing suicide, he ends up committing suicide himself. After he awakens, he finds himself not in the real world, nor in heaven, but in purgatory, along with a group of others who did the same: commit suicide. Sakai discovers that he and his peers are subjected to never-ending intense death games in this world for reasons unknown to him, and he tries to find a way to escape.

As a 35-year old high school teacher, he finds himself with zero friends. He tries to make friends with the other teachers, but they treat him like trash. He doesn't know what to do, until Koume, the most popular girl in class, offers him a helping hand. But she doesn't want to be his friend, she says, “I'll be your teacher." What does she mean by that?

In preparation for the catastrophic meteor, scientists had foreseen the disaster, prompting leaders from all countries to convene and strategize the survival of humanity. They established the Seven Seeds initiative wherein young, healthy individuals from each country were cryogenically preserved until the computer declared Earth safe again, giving them a chance to thrive in the new world. The Japanese government, on the other hand, formed five groups of survivors: Winter, Spring, and Summer groups A and B, and Fall. Each group was composed of a guide and seven members, equipped with a small tube of poison as a last resort. Moreover, seven refuges known as "Fuji" were made available, containing various seeds and survival guides. This shoujo manga, which won the 52nd Shogakukan Manga Award, depicts their post-apocalyptic journey.
