The people have demanded change, Criterion boxes were created for the purpose of the people to leave their complaints in it. The result of this were two changes: the first being the creation of of 'Koishigawa Youjoujo' for the people, the second being an inner-city magistrate office, known as the Mushibugyo. Tsukishima Jinbee is a warrior who aims to be best, under the belief that a weak warrior isn't a warrior at all. He was scouted out by a representative to join the Mushibugyo and told to go to Edo with the instructions that he'd knew what to do once he got there. Shortly after arriving at Edo, he hears a scream and goes to check it out... To find a giant spider-like creature devouring some citizens of Edo. Being a warrior, there's no way he could stand this...

The main character, Hinako Momotsuki, is a high school girl who loves the anime "Puri Puri" and devotes all her energy into otaku activities. However, in actuality, when she unites with a mysterious "Maji" centipede life form, she becomes a distorted hero who saves people. Now she fights both to save the town assailed by "Maji" and to protect her unrequited crush, Himoru-senpai.

At a certain cafe, there works the owner and a waitress. But this is no ordinary cafe. The two of them also have checkered pasts. The cafe sits between two worlds, public society and its underbelly. They are similar, yet different. Will they find attraction together or push each other away...?"

During a flashback, an interviewer inquires Kuzumi Taiga, a prospective student for Seinagi Private High School, on what he would do if he could use magic, during his entrance interview. He replies, "take over the world", with an outburst of laughter, from an attractive girl, following his answer. After the entrance exam, the school rejects his application; although he recalls almost nothing after this event, he does recall the girl, and believes the cause of his school of choice rejecting his application involves her. Wandering around outside of the school the next day, Kuzumi tries to enter, but an invisible barrier blocks him. A teacher, Mr. Hiiragi, confuses Kuzumi for a student of the school ditching class and pulls Kuzumi into the school through the barrier. Seinagi Private High School is actually a magic school and Kuzumi is a teenager with no magical skill.
