Kokura Hikari is a first-year high school girl who loves rifle shooting. She entered Chidori High School because it had a shooting club, but finds that the club had been disbanded. She had only one day to find enough members to reform the club, but luckily was able to find three other first-year girls who she had met at a competition in middle school. Thus begins the daily activities of the Chidori High Shooting Club.
After the war, there are many "Extends" in the city, people whose bodies were modified to make them into dangerous weapons. Inui Juuzou is one of them, and he has no memories of his life and body before his head was transformed into a gun. Strangely enough, his head-gun is designed so that only someone behind him can pull the trigger. Juuzou makes a living by taking on cases involving Extends in the city, and he is assisted by Mary, an intelligent young woman that he has taken under his protection.

Later that night, Tobio finds himself under attack, again, this time by two people with monsters. Amidst all the ensuing chaos, out of Tobio's shadow, came out a Puppy that rescues him. After fending off the two monsters, Natsume once again approaches Tobio before finally deciding to take him to their hideout.

One day, a regular patron named Tanaka, who recruits day laborers for the underground, requests that they bring meals to an assassin from the Forest called "Yorukumo," or "Night Spider." Yorukumo was born in the Forest as a disposable child, raised to be void of emotions, unable to feel pain, and without knowledge of reading and writing. With Tanaka's instructions, he easily handles assassin jobs daily. When Kiyoko and Yorukumo meet, the World begins to come apart a little at a time.
