In Tokyo recognized as Shinto Teito in the year 2020, 19-year old Minato Sahashi is very intelligent, yet because of his inability to cope under pressure has failed the college entrance test twice. The Sekirei space-ship crashed on Earth in 1999 on Kamikura Island , and was discovered by two pupils, Hiroto Minaka (potential MBI chairman) and Takami Sahashi (potential MBI head researcher and Minato's mom). On board, the pair had discovered 108 lifeforms, explained as "One pillar and 107 baby birds".
