Since the first man, humans have shared the world with creatures known as the Jinn (Jinn plural, jinni singular) , sometimes they are known as spirits or ghost. They have been around before humans and have extraordinary abilities. They are unseen to the naked eye but can take the forms of animals, humans and other living things. Even though the Jinn live with free will, each human is also assigned an individual Jinni (a Qarin) to be their constant companion and whisper evil thoughts to them. Suddenly something happens in the world which allows humans strong particularly Willpower to be able exploit and use the powers of their Qarin and in some cases the powers of other Jinn. The head of the central base has sent the ace soldier, Yuuichi Jin, to help out the failing Base 7, and rescue his son Yuiga Tadashi, who is the leader there. Unfortunately, the problem with Base 7 is, in fact, Yuiga Tadashi. He's a terrible leader who cares for nothing but his own reputation and believes that being the central base leader's son allows him to do whatever he wants. Will Jin be able to fix this terrible situation?
A spin-off based on Asaura's original Light Novel series, that focuses on Yarizui Sen's story. Sen is a first year student in Karasuda Private High-school. In this high-school, in-dorm students aren't provided any lunch or dinner supposedly to make them take care of themselves better. As a result, a group of students and random youngsters with poor allowances decided to fight with each other in various supermarkets in order to get half-priced ben-to ; and the most renowned of these fighters are known as "Wolves". One night, Sen entered one of these supermarkets and unwillingly got dragged into a fight with them until she is saved by a very famous one : the "Wizard" Kaneshiro Yu. The later proposed her to enter in the world of the ben-to fighting and this where her formidable adventure begins.

Based on a popular otome game, Hakuouki follows Chizuru and the Shinsengumi in an alternate reality. Chizuru travels to Kyoto in search of her missing father but after being involved in an incident, ended up being taken in by the Shinsengumi where she meets the members including the famous Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Soshi. Chizuru’s father was conducting government research for strengthening the Shinsengumi and developed the ochimizu. The ochimizu is a formula that gives demon like strength and regeneration effects but once taken, the user experiences extreme pain and eventually turns into a blood hungry monster. In an attempt to defend Chizuru, Hijikata takes the ochimizu and although the situation was saved, he is now affected with the illness. Okita is also forced to take the formula when his tuberculosis prevents him from defending Chizuru and himself. Feeling responsible for their actions, Chizuru must fight her feeling of helplessness and find the courage to support the Shinsengumi.
